What Makes Ragdolls Special?

Appearance.
I am not going to repeat the history of the Ragdoll cat which can be found on plenty of other sites. Instead I will tell you what I think makes Ragdolls special. Firstly they are outstandingly beautiful and in their case beauty is not just skin deep.
They are large, semi-longhaired, muscular cats with stunning blue eyes that range from pale china blue to deepest sapphire. Their fur is soft and silky and is said to have non- matting qualities. It feels like rabbit fur but as with any coat, if neglected, you will get knotted fur so regular grooming is beneficial. Both of you should enjoy it.

Colours and Patterns.
The original colours that came into the country were seal, blue, chocolate and lilac, then many years later we were lucky to have the addition of red, cream, tortie points, tabby points and tortie-tabby points which can be found in the three accepted patterns of colourpoint, mitted and bi-colour. Some colours are more difficult to acquire than others.

Temperament.
The thing that sets the Ragdoll apart from other breeds is its temperament. They have wonderful gentle, laid back natures, this makes them ideal house pets. They become totally devoted to their human families. The first thing that strikes new Ragdoll owners who have bought kittens from me is how confident their kitten is from the moment he/she first steps from the cat carrier in to his/her new home. As kittens they are lively and inquisitive. As they mature they become even more loving and trusting, tending to follow their owners about. They are one of the few breeds that are suitable for almost any home, although if they are to be left for long periods of time, they should have a companion.
But be warned you will probably find that one Ragdoll is not enough.
